  • The Outback comes with standard raised roof rails while the Edge does not.
  • Both vehicles come with a standard infotainment system, but only the Outback comes with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

2019 Subaru Outback vs. 2019 Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5, however, comes equipped with standard front-wheel drive.
  • The Mazda CX-5 slightly edges out the Outback in terms of standard engine power, however, the Outback also offers an optional 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 256-horsepower while the CX-5 only offers one engine option that produces 187-horsepower.
  • Both vehicles come with their own infotainment systems standard, Subaru Starlink and MazdaConnect, respectively, but only the Starlink system in the Outback comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity standard.
  • The Outback is more spacious with more passenger and cargo space than the CX-5.
